Università degli Studi di Milano (UMIL), established in 1924, is one of the largest Italian public teaching and research-intensive university, the only Italian among the 21 members of LERU. EU programs represent a major source of funding, with 124 FP7 funded projects up to December 2012. In MoveCare, UMIL participates with the Department of Computer Science (DI, http://www.di.unimi.it), devoted to both theoretical and applied research in ICT, and in particular with the laboratory of Applied Intelligent Systems (AIS-Lab, http://ais-lab.di.unimi.it) and with that of Civic Informatics (LIC). DI has a staff of more than 80 researchers and 40 assistants. It has been a member of PASCAL2 network of excellence; in the last five years has participated to 22 EC funded projects and it served as coordinator of the projects FITREHAB and REWIRE on which MoveCare is based. DI participated also to many projects financed by national Institutions as well as by industry.
